CanSkate - Learn to Skate with Confidence!
CanSkate is Skate Canada's flagship program, designed for children who are ready to learn and improve their skating skills. Using a progression-based system, skaters develop balance, control, and agility through fun activities, circuits, and challenges.
Led by Skate Canada-certified coaches, the program uses music, group instruction, and achievement ribbons to keep skaters motivated as they advance through the stages.
Who it's for:
Ages 5+ with little or some skating experience.
(Skaters ages 3 to 5 who cannot stand, balance, or move forward on skates should register for Pre-CanSkate.)
What they'll learn:
Forward and backward skating, stopping, turning, edges, and crossovers.
Why it matters:
Builds the essential skills for hockey, ringette, figure skating, or recreational skating.
As skaters advance through the CanSkate program and achieve Level 4, coaches may determine they are ready for Advanced CanSkate before the season ends. In this case, families will be asked to register into Advanced CanSkate, and any remaining CanSkate fees will be refunded.
